What NOT to do before your Boudoir Session

Do you have an upcoming boudoir photo shoot? Whether it’s your first photo shoot or your tenth, you are probably feeling excited, maybe a bit nervous, and no doubt starting to plan what needs to be done. You may already know the “dos” about getting ready, but do you know the “don’ts”?

You want your photo shoot to represent the best possible you. There are some steps you can take to ensure that you look utterly stunning on the day of your shoot.

Let’s take a look at some of the things boudoir and glamour photography photographers don’t recommend right before a photo shoot.

  • Don't wax the day before – Don’t wait until the day before or day of your appointment to wax. You will want to wax three to five days before your photo shoot. Waxing can leave red marks or slight rashes on your skin. Should this happen, they will fade within a few days.

  • Don't overlook even minor facial hair – If you tweeze your eyebrows or other facial hair, be sure to do it prior to your session. For waxing, follow the instructions from above and do it three to five days before your shoot. Be sure to remove hair from your upper lip as some photos will be close-ups and you won’t want any visible peach fuzz! If you need a good salon, All Dolled Up in Southington can help you out!

  • Don't forget your sunscreen – You don’t want to be sunburned. Not only does sunburn hurt, but it’s also not pretty in glamour shots. Sunburn does not photograph well and will reduce the sexy factor.

  • Don't fake tan – Say no to spray-on tans or any tan in a bottle. Fake tans can look exactly like what they are: fake tans. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with pale skin. In fact, many people find pale skin with no tan lines to be quite sexy.

  • Don't skimp on your mani & pedi – Don’t forget to get those nails dolled up. A professional manicure and pedicure before your photo shoot will make a world of difference.

  • Don't celebrate before your shoot – The days before your glamour or boudoir shoot aren't the best time for partying. Please don’t drink alcohol in excess as it may cause your eyes and skin to look puffy. Avoid any foods that cause you to retain fluid. Drink lots of water and get plenty of rest.

  • Don't let stress overtake your experience – Don’t stress on the day of your session. You have been waiting for this day so relax and have fun with it!
