Brazilian Wax | A guide to survival

I recently had my VERY first Brazilian wax.

Let me tell you; it's not as bad as I thought.

Yes, it hurts, but ladies, it's FANTASTIC.

Here are six tips for surviving your first Brazilian wax.

  1. Soft wax vs. hard wax. You want someone who uses both. Hard wax, in my opinion, is better. It only adheres to the hair, not the skin. Soft wax was used at the very end of the waxing session to get out the few stubborn hairs left.

  2. Hair length - it can't be too short or too long. If it's too long, they can always trim it down. If it's too short, they won't be able to get enough on the hair to pull it out.

  3. Wax stick applicator - a new applicator stick should be used EVERY time.

  4. Frequency - if you want to keep it up, 4-5 weeks is the best length of time. If you wait too long, then it will be like being waxed for the first time again.

  5. "This is a no modesty service." I laughed out loud when she told me this! You cannot be concerned about modesty during this service because there is NO room for that.

  6. Take a couple of Advil 20-30 minutes before you arrive. It will help take the edge off.

For my boudoir clients, I always suggest getting waxed 3 days before your scheduled session because you don’t want any red bumps or an unexpected reaction to the waxing.

If you will be getting a Brazilian wax for the very first time to prep for your boudoir photoshoot, plan to have 2 waxing sessions before your shoot to see how your skin reacts to the waxing.

I understand not everyone wants to wax and that is TOTALLY fine. Do what makes you most comfortable.
